  • New Principal Annoucement

    Friday, February 3, 2017

Please join us in welcoming Ryan Cowell as Charles Hay World School Principal for 2017-18! Ryan is coming to Colorado from Champaign, Illinois where he currently serves as Principal at Booker T.      Ryan will begin his work as principal beginning July 1, 2017.  He looks forward to serving families of Charles Hay World School.  His philosophy for leading a true community school is aligned with the Englewood Schools Strategic Plan and belief that all should “Belong and Thrive”.  Ryan is also excited to become a Colorado resident.  Some of his favorite childhood memories are of family vacations here.  He is looking forward to improving his fly fishing skills and enjoying an active lifestyle along with his wife and two children.

  • Dear Charles Hay World School Community,

After nearly seven years as the principal of Charles Hay World School, I want to let our community know that I will be resigning at the end of the year.  I have been honored to lead such an amazing school bolstered by a supportive and engaged group of parents and community members.  Every day as I come to work I felt  honored to know you trusted me with the care and education of your children.

The path to this decision was not an easy journey, as I love my job and the work I do with teachers and students.  The importance of family has always been a core value I’ve stressed with all who I work with, as well as the continuous search for personal and professional growth opportunities.  My wife and I have always had the dream of teaching internationally together and immersing our son in another culture, language and lifestyle, so when we received an offer to teach at the American School in Guatemala, we felt it was an opportunity we could not refuse.  The experience also fell at the perfect time in our son’s life to begin to build the sense of international-mindedness, curiosity and intercultural understanding that, I believe, are key experiences in a child’s education.

Again, the decision to leave Charles Hay, our family’s home school and the work I am so vested in, has been a difficult decision.  I will miss the most dedicated staff I have ever worked with, a parent community whose support is overwhelming, and, most of all, the wonderful kids of Charles Hay who inspire me every with their wisdom, curiosity and smiles.  I will be an active part of the Charles Hay community throughout the remainder of the year with normal job responsibilities and the exciting opportunity of planning our new building.  Moving forward, the school is in excellent hands with a capable and experienced leadership team and district level support you won’t find in a school system outside Englewood.   They will be communicating directly to the Charles Hay community regarding the principal hiring process and timeline.

I look forward to talking with students and families during the upcoming months and sharing stories about their kids and the many fond memories we’ve shared over the years.  I am equally excited at looking forward to a very bright future in store for Charles Hay.

  • Important Information about Immunizations

Immunizations are an important part of our children's and the community's health. Colorado law requires students attending a public, private or parochial school to be immunized against certain vaccine preventable diseases.

Specifically, incoming kindergarten students and sixth graders are due for vaccines before coming back to school for the 2016-2017 school year.
