Updates from Human Resources

Halogen Information Extraction
As you know, Englewood Schools has transitioned to a new employee evaluation system and will no longer be using Halogen. Since our contract expired with Halogen we no longer have direct access to their system. Please be informed that we are in the process of having all data extracted from the Halogen system. In a few weeks we will have access to all previous years employee evaluations and records of professional development. If you are in need of this information, please e-mail Phil Bedford at phillip_bedford@engschools.net with your request. We will not have access to this information for at least the next two weeks.

Worker's Comp Services
Please be informed that HealthOne in Englewood is no longer available to employees who become injured while working. Attached is a document with the new location information that was shared last week. Additionally, other HealthOne facilities are available if needed (please see this attached document).

New Features in Google Classroom

Google Classroom has added many new features over the summer. Two are ones we have been waiting for. Students can now annotate over pdf and other file types and you can now enable student guardian summaries.

Annotations: Classroom’s drawing tools allow students/teachers to annotate on assignments. The tools allow you to underline words, highlight text, draw shapes, and leave notes. For example, you can highlight a topic sentence, color a map, sketch a plant cell, or show your work on a math problem. You can draw on Google Docs, images, PDFs, and Microsoft® Office® documents.

Guardian summaries: Teachers can invite guardians to sign up for email summaries to keep up with their students. Guardians can choose how often to get a summary—daily or weekly—and can unsubscribe at any time. Summaries include a student’s missing or upcoming work as well as new announcements and questions posted by teachers in the class stream. By default, guardian email summaries are turned off, but you can turn them on for your class. Go to classroom.google.com -> Click your class -> Under Guardian Email Notifications, click Include this class to On. (Optional) Check the box to add all your classes to guardian summaries. Click Add.

1338 Committee Application Process Now Open

We are now taking applications for the 1338 Committee. The 1338 Committee is charged with consulting with the Board of Education as to the fairness, effectiveness, credibility, and professional quality of the licensed personnel performance evaluation system and its processes and procedures. It is also to conduct a continuous evaluation of such evaluation system. Please click here to fill out the application and view the dates/times of meetings. If you have questions, please contact Joanna_polzin@engschools.net.

School Fundraising Opportunity

Fins and Noodles Italian Seafood restaurant is offering local schools the opportunity to book a fundraising event at Fins and Noodles any night Monday through Wednesday. Any school that participates will receive 15% of your school's total sales at the restaurant that evening. The restaurant asks that schools inform parents and community members of the fundraising event, and participants inform their server that evening that they are there to support your school. Fins and Noodles will then give 15% of those sales to your school. If you are interested in booking a fundraising date, contact Robert Sansone at Fins and Noodles at 720-489-6097. Please let the Communications Office know about your date so we can include in our monthly parent newsletters and help promote the event. Email us at info@engschools.net

Englewood Library Resources
The Englewood Public Library assists teachers by “pulling” books from their shelf and having them ready for you to pick up. The library has a brand new set of state books, country books and biographies (the “Who Was” series).  Please email Kimberly Powers, the children's librarian, at kpowers@englewoodgov.org to assist you in making your next unit come alive with books!
