1)     $2000 Individual/$4000 Family
District HSA Monthly Contribution = $65.97

2)     $4000 Individual/$8000 Family
District HSA Monthly Contribution = $136.28
 
The amount allotted for premium plus HSA = $476.11
$2000/$4000 Monthly Premium: $410.14 + $65.97 = $476.11
$4000/$8000 Monthly Premium: $339.83 + $136.28 = $476.11
 
1.0 FTE Teachers: the District will pay the employee’s monthly premium/HSA contributions for those eligible and enrolled.
 
Admin/Pro/Tech and Classified employees working a minimum of 4 hours per day and 175 days per year: the District will pay the employee’s monthly premium/HSA contributions for those eligible and enrolled.

The PEAK Parent Center Conference on Inclusive Education is February 13-14, 2014 in Denver. This is for all educators and families who work with children with disabilities. Historically this has been an awesome conference with a lot of strong, usable information. Learn more and register here.

Phone Service Discount
As an employee of Englewood Schools, you may be entitled to an 18% discount on wireless services from Verizon. To participate you need to take a copy of your pay stub (black out all salary/pay information – they just want to be able to see your name, address and that the check is from Englewood Schools – Arapahoe County School District) and a photo ID to a Verizon store and talk with an associate about getting the 18% discount.

A Hero Among Us!
Al Esquibel, a custodian at Clayton, saved a student's life on Oct. 1. The student was choking on salad so Al performed the Heimlich Maneuver and was successful in clearing his air passage. This is the second time he has saved a student! Thank you for being so alert, proactive and supportive of the needs of our students!

Kaiser Flu Shots
If you missed an opportunity to get a flu shot at RDAB or EHS there are other options available. Kaiser Permanente began offering flu shots to members at all Kaiser Permanente medical offices on a walk-in basis beginning October 1, 2013. They will offer this service through November 30, 2013 while supplies last. There is no charge for member flu shots received at a Kaiser Permanente medical office. Health & Wellness Corner

FREE On-Site Fitness Classes Started This Week!

Below is a list of the fall fitness classes, dates, times, and locations. ALL Englewood staff are invited to participate in classes at ANY location.
 
Charles Hay – Boot Camp, Tuesdays, 3:15 PM, 10/15 – 11/19
ECE / Maddox – Zumba, Tuesdays at 4 PM, 10/15 – 11/19
Cherrelyn – Boot Camp, Thursdays, 3:15 PM, 10/17 – 12/5*
EHS – Yoga, Wednesdays, 7 AM, 11/6 – 12/11
CFAHS – Pilates, Mondays, 3:30 PM, 11/4 – 12/9
 
Classes will also be held at Bishop (Boot Camp) and Clayton (Cross Fit), but we are awaiting instructor assignments. Please check the ES website under Health and Wellness >> Staff Wellness for the most up to date information!
 
*Boot camp will not be held at Cherrelyn on Thursday, Oct 24th and Thursday, November 28th.

Thrive Across America – Activity Tracking Competition October 14 – December 8th!

Register NOW and begin tracking your daily activity, as you make your way (virtually, of course!) across the United States! At each stop, you will be given interesting facts and some history about the location.
  • You do not need to use any tracking device, such as a pedometer, to participate in this challenge! Just simply log your activities each day on the website. Activities range from walking and running, to swimming, yoga and dancing!
  • You may also create teams of 4-10 participants in Thrive Across America
  • You may also participate independently (not as part of a team
  • This competition is open to ALL Englewood Schools employees, and is FREE. Just simply log on, create your profile, and register. You may appear as yourself or you may choose an alias.
  • There is also a mobile App for Thrive Across America, so you can log your activity, check your stats, and check in with teammates at any time!
If you would like everyone to know which school or building your represent, just add your school / building name at the end of the team name. For example:

Free Health Risk Assessment Available to All Employees

The Kaiser Total Health Assessment (THA)  is an easy questionnaire that can help you examine what’s affecting your overall health—from how often you exercise to what you eat in the morning—and then help you prioritize your lifestyle changes to reduce your risks. 

How is my information protected?
This questionnaire is part of a confidential and voluntary program that is part of the Englewood Schools wellness program. It provides you with important information on how to stay healthy. No individual health information will be provided to anyone at Englewood Schools.

Kaiser members may complete the assessment online. If you are not a Kaiser member you may request a paper assessment fromLinda Shamlin in the Human Resources Office.
To complete the Total Health Assessment online: 
1. Log on to kp.org with your user ID and password
2. Hold mouse over “My Health Manager” tab, click on “My Medical Record.” Click on “Past Visit Information” and “Test Results” to write down your blood pressure, cholesterol (LDL, HDL, and triglycerides), and fasting glucose. If you do not have these test results yet, you may skip this step.
3. Click on “Health and Wellness”; and then click the “Total Health Assessment” icon. Scroll down and click “Start Succeed now.”
4. If this is your first time entering the site, click “I agree” to Terms & Conditions and click “Next.”
5. Complete the HealthMedia® Succeed™ Total Health Assessment.
6. Print out your personal report and make plans to improve your health with a variety of special online programs, health education classes, and discussions with your personal health care team 
Once you have completed your THA, bookmark or print your personal report and make plans to improve your health with a variety of online programs, health education classes, and discussions with your personal health care team.

This program is FREE to all Englewood Schools employees, both Kaiser and non-Kaiser members.
