Preschool Round Up

The Englewood Schools ECE Program at Maddox is scheduling Preschool Round-up appointments in May and again in August for the enrollment of children ages 3 through 5 for next school year, 2014-15. Our goal is to help children develop a positive attitude toward learning and to support children's social and educational development. We provide integrated services that build a foundation for lifelong learning and support the role of parents as partners in their child's educational development.
Funded preschool is available for children between the ages of 3 and 5 years old who meet eligibility requirements through the Colorado Preschool Program, Head Start, Title 1 or Special Education and provides a comprehensive system of services which address child, family and community needs. Preschool is also available for children on a tuition basis. The ECE program is licensed by the Colorado Department of Human Services and is a Qualistar rated program.
Call 303-781-7585 to make an appointment and obtain information about our preschool.

An invitation to FREE EXPERT FINANCIAL ADVICE

Thanks to a district grant from Great-West Financial there is a new focus on improving the financial literacy of students in Englewood, but also on investing in the financial literacy of everyone that works within Englewood schools.

All teachers and district employees are invited to attend a one-day workshop on personal financial literacy.  The workshop will be held at EMS from 8:30 – 3:30 on Monday, June 16.  Attendees will have the opportunity to earn extra duty pay and relicensure credit.  During the workshop you will be able to choose four different one-hour sessions on various financial topics that are most relevant to your life situation.  Topics include Investing & Retirement Planning, Understanding your PERA Benefits, Budgeting, Insurance, Paying for College and Goal Setting.  Sessions are guaranteed to be hands-on so you will walk away from the day feeling like you have taken real steps towards improving your financial confidence and well being.

The workshop will continue throughout the rest of the week with 2-day sessions held at Maddox for elementary teachers (June 17-18) and middle/high school teachers (June 19-20) focusing on resources and support in integrating financial literacy in the classroom as now required by Colorado Academic Standards.  See this flyer for more details and how to register online.  Space is limited to 45, so register soon!  Don’t hesitate to contact Heather Greenwood, Financial Literacy Coordinator with any questions.

Kathy Richardson/Math Perspectives Classes This Summer

Aurora Public Schools will be hosting two Kathy Richardson/Math Perspectives classes this summer in Aurora and we would love to have teachers from other districts join us. Two sessions will be offered:
Developing Number Concepts K-2
and
Understanding Numbers 3-5:  Developing Computational Fluency
Both classes will take place June 24-26 at Tollgate Elementary (near Alameda and Chambers in Aurora) from 8:30-3:30. Go to www.mathperspectives.com to register and get more information.
We have hosted these classes for years and teachers continually say it’s some of the best learning they’ve had in terms of understanding how children learn mathematics and how to develop mathematical understandings in their students.
Please share the information and invite your teachers to join us in Aurora!

Support Englewood Students by Playing Golf

Englewood Rotary's annual golf tournament helps provide over $10,000 in scholarships to EHS and CFAHS graduates. Rotary also helps support the Well Fed program in our schools.

This summer, we are hoping to help Englewood Rotary make this tournament bigger than it's ever been! You can help by bringing a foursome to golf, volunteering to help during the tournament, donating silent auction items or soliciting hole sponsorships.

The tournament will be on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at Saddle Rock Golf Course. It's $125 for an individual golfer, $500 for a foursome. Visit the Rotary Club of Englewood's website for more information on how to register.
